Stephanie De Flora combines proven science behind lasting habit and behavior change favored in the West with deeper belief-based philosophies of the East. With Health & Wellness Certification from the Mayo Clinic and a National Board of Health & Wellness Certified Coach, the tools and techniques utilized create tangible experiences through exploration and experimentation.
However, in Stephanie’s experience that’s only half the journey. Alongside this proven western approach is the deeper (nah nagging?) feeling that there’s more to checklists and charts. Eastern sciences that look at the individual, the more subtle body view of what motivates on a deeper and soul nourishing level.
Together, the Process Evolved Walkabout* results in a journey where the individual defines the destination and walks alongside a local guide experiencing off the beaten path sights and sounds. This approach offers a richer experience than simply rushing off to outcomes determined as “must have” by complete strangers.
* A walkabout is used to describe spiritual and rite of passage transitions, a temporary nomadic lifestyle during significant times of change.
The inspiration for the Process Evolved Walkabout came as most things do – out of personal necessity and experience. In my early 20’s I received a diagnosis of the first of multiple chronic illnesses I would face in my life. As my symptoms were relatively tame compared to “typical” western diagnosis, I did as young people do – I kept on living a stress filled and indulgent lifestyle because nothing was going to stop me.
This isn’t to say there weren’t struggles with various aspects of my individual health & wellness along the way. Actually, through multiple instances of burnout and grief from unexpected deaths, I found myself gravitating towards something deeper, something Western techniques couldn’t quite touch. It’s at these points in life that I found myself going deeper and deeper into yogic practices including movement and meditation as well as philosophies around the mind-body relationship. How I breathed at any given moment provided more insight at times into my wellbeing than my rational brain could comprehend.
At a crossroad in my life came a decision point – do I continue with the status quo or to look down at a windier path? The latter required a bit of faith and courage since it’d require new skills and I’d bring little transferable experience. My decision toward the unknown path into Health & Wellness coaching was never a foregone conclusion nor was it a solo journey. I had many companions and guides who walked alongside me, helping me experience the richness that surrounded this journey, reminding me there was more to see and do than just becoming a coach. In the end, I chose to become a guide, working to illuminate a way as was once done for me. More than a prayer, money or well wishes – I join these deep explorations offered up through walkabouts so that no one is forced to walk alone.
The second chronic condition I’d receive would come just months after I obtained NBC-HWC certification and while the symptoms were once again subtle, Cancer has a way of demanding full attention. Living now with Hashimoto’s (autoimmune) and Chronic Lymphotic Leukemia (blood cancer), health & wellness, with a significant emphasis on fun and enjoying every moment to the max, is my life’s intention. It’s my hope that it becomes more intentional for others who desire lasting wellbeing in their lives as well.

In the consult we connect on current goals and desired achievements. We'll work through what you can expect throughout the walkabout and get to know your guide.
Upon committing to the walkabout, we collaboratively create an itinerary towards the desired destination. From this stage forward, you direct the wellness experience. After all, it's your adventure!
Throughout the course of the coaching relationship, you will continue to evolve how to approach wellness leveraging your individual strengths and values. Our focus will be on exploring what's possible through fun experiences.
